Baby Bjorn
By Greg Blaum @ 12:16 AM :: 423 Views :: 0 Comments ::

Sunday was the first time that Caroline got to go for a "ride" in the Baby Bjorn baby carrier.  We took a short walk in the neighborhood and Daddy was the one that carried little Caroline in the Baby Bjorn.  She fussed a little bit, but by about halfway through the walk she had calmed down and fallen asleep.  It looks like we'll get good use out of the Baby Bjorn carrier.

We stopped and chatted a bit with our neighbors up the hill, the Damata's.  We got a chance to see 3 of their 4 kids (their baby was in his crib), and both Lamar and Shae.  It was nice visiting with them; they're good people.  Shae has a small home business and she made a nice little baby blankie as a gift for baby Caroline.

6 weeks
By Greg Blaum @ 11:52 PM :: 444 Views :: 0 Comments ::

Caroline turned 6 weeks old on Thursday (4/20).  Sometimes it is very hard to believe that she's already 6 weeks old.

They say that the "fussiness" reaches a peak around 5-6 weeks and after that it starts to get better.  We're finding that is probably pretty accurate.  She's been inordinately fussy the past week, and has been very hard to get to sleep in-between feedings.  This makes her over-tired and then she starts crying and screaming.  We're hoping that the 5-6 weeks peak is on the money and that she starts improving soon.

Easter with Adolph's and Coy's
By Greg Blaum @ 6:39 PM :: 391 Views :: 0 Comments ::
We had Easter dinner yesterday with the Adolph's and the Coy's.  It was at the Adolph's house, and everyone brought a dish or two.  It was a very nice dinner.  Easter here was rainy most of the day.  Caroline was good for a while, but got a bit fussy towards the end of our visit.

Lunch out
By Greg Blaum @ 6:35 PM :: 422 Views :: 0 Comments ::
Caroline went out with Mommy today for a short outing.  After Mommy's doctor appointment, they both met a co-worker of Krista's (Lynda) for lunch.  They had lunch at a vegetarian/vegan restaurant in Seattle and returned back home early in the afternoon.  Lynda had a nice gift for Caroline as well.

Long sleep
By Greg Blaum @ 10:53 AM :: 368 Views :: 0 Comments ::

Wow, Caroline slept a long time last night, giving Mommy and Daddy the chance to sleep as well.  She had her last evening feed at around 12 and she went to sleep shortly after that.  Daddy waited until she was good and asleep and brought her up to the bedroom and placed her in her bassinet around 1:15.  She slept from then until around 6:30.  I believe that's the longest stretch of continuous sleep that she's had and it is certainly the longest time she's gone in-between feedings.

This is a good sign for her development, and she may be starting to sleep throught the night much sooner than anticipated.  Of course, she's doing lots of things sooner than expected.  Heck, we half-expect her to be solving differential equations before she reaches her first birthday...  he he he

Outgrowing clothes
By Greg Blaum @ 10:48 AM :: 425 Views :: 0 Comments ::
Caroline has begun to outgrow some of her clothes.  A very cute little pink/white striped outfit that zips up the side and has built in feet was the first one to not fit her.  The body on it fit fine, but because she's gaining a lot of height the feet were too short and didn't give her room to stretch out.  She's also got a couple of hats that are too snug now.  The nice stretchy little hats that they gave us at the hospital are still very good ones to use as they keep in heat, but not so much heat that her head would get hot.

Night and Day
By Greg Blaum @ 11:42 AM :: 393 Views :: 0 Comments ::
This past week has been pretty good as far as the nights are concerned.  Caroline is starting to realize that the night is for sleeping.  In her first few weeks, she had her nights and days backwards and was fussy and awake at night.  That's now changing and we're seeing her getting up only to feed and then going right back to sleep.  Mommy and Daddy are grateful that she's starting to allow us to get a little bit of sleep...

Miss smilie
By Greg Blaum @ 11:40 AM :: 430 Views :: 0 Comments ::
Caroline has started smiling some at both Mommy and Daddy.  And yes, it isn't just gas.  She's responding more to either of us talking to her and is making a lot more sounds than just crying now.  We've heard lots of cute little coo's and the like.

New Developments
By Greg Blaum @ 8:17 PM :: 246 Views :: 0 Comments ::

Today after I got home from work I noticed that when I was changing Caroline, she would stare intently at me.  In fact, when I moved around the pack-n-play to put the dirty diaper into the diaper champ, she turned her head towards me and continued to stare quietly at me.  When I moved back to the spot where I need to be in order to put a new diaper on her, she moved her head back.  She's also starting to use her hands much more often.  Sometimes while breast feeding, she'll put her hands on Krista, and she's also starting to put her hands on me when I'm holding her.

Krista used a new trick today to get her to calm down some.  She put her in the carseat, sat it on the dryer, and turned the dryer on.  This immediately calmed Caroline down and she was asleep within minutes.  We're going to have to remember that one.

Caroline visits Microsoft
By Greg Blaum @ 4:27 PM :: 259 Views :: 0 Comments ::
Well, kind of...  Krista was out with Caroline today for her 1st new mother's class at the hospital, and on the way home they stopped by my building and Daddy came downstairs to say hi.  In addition, Daddy brought a couple of co-workers with him (Jane & Steve) so they could also see Caroline.
